The goal for this Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths centre was to design a flexible and stimulating environment that would promote the cross curriculum innovative teaching practices that are central to the STEM philosophy.

A key principle of STEM is innovation.

All key learning spaces - the engineering and science labs, the planning room and the lecture theatre have been designed to be open and as flexible as possible, to support the cross curricula nature of STEM.

The design intent is that the operable walls will always be kept open, allowing these spaces to function as one large learning environment, which will help to promote creative and critical thinking.

The heart of the building is the entry foyer and model display. This space is a place where students can meet in small groups and discuss ideas and the
development of their projects on display. This ability to showcase learning and design thinking through protoyping is central to the STEM philosophy.
